Paid a pleasant visit to this year's Organic Islands Festival. Felt a bit like Woodstock as we walked along a Saanich country road past sticker strewn cars to a village of tents. Naturally, we paid a visit to the Elkington Forest tent, they're a client of ours. We hung out at the CRD booth, talked to an architect who specializes in small footprint homes and chatted with our friend Richard LeBlanc about their massive living logo in development at Woodwynn Farms. A great day and a fun time. We'll be back next year for sure.
I just saw a movie called World’s Greatest Dad, starring Robin Williams. I didn’t know anything about it and I wasn’t in any hurry to see it either. First of all, I’m not a fan of Robin Williams and the title sounded like a Disney flick that could have just as easily starred Tim Allen. Even ten minutes on, it was looking like my worst suspicions were being realized. Then came the auto-erotic asphyxiation scene.

Once again, we're getting local movie buffs to talk film for this year's Victoria Film Festival commercial. Our thanks to Kathy Kay, everyone at the fest, Rich Leboudec and the folks at A-Channel for making it possible.

It's Zombie Walk '09. And the undead get out and about looking for brains.

Whenever Comedy Death Ray comes to town, we've got to be there. This is LA's hippest alternative comedy troupe. This year's line up included The Fun Guys, Maria Bamford, Reggie Watts, Tig Notaro, Brent Weinbach and Paul F. Tompkins.

The perfect day for skim boarding at Witty's Lagoon.

A pean to summer and my son's baseball team.

Took in the Pride Parade on Government Street. Then joined the march down to Fisherman's Wharf. Beautiful day. Great turnout. A fabulous time was had by all. Watch the slideshow after the jump.

Last night, we checked out Dick Dale at Element. I wasn't expecting much after a series of lackluster concerts by various dinosaurs of rock. Dick is 72 now and just out of hospital after cancer surgery. Video after the jump.

Spent a lovely day on a drive to Tofino in search of a taco van we'd seen in town. Found it quite by accident and just in time for some righteous breakfast burritos. Great concept, cool graphics, good food and very nice people. Hey, they gave us a chili chocolate cookie for the road. Click here for the video.

That was our driver’s greeting on the IKEA Shuttle. Simply because, of the 52 passengers, 90% were women. I was part of the select group of men spending several hours deep, deep within a rolling hen party. Cluck, cluck, cluck, cluck, cluck. Then onto the Swedish Meatball Dinner. Served by an Indian kitchen staff to an almost entirely Chinese clientele. A truly international junket for a $40 return ticket and a license to load up to 50 pounds of IKEA stuff. Heaven. Last night, we took a trip to Dale Baglo Broadcast studios. Maureen Washington laid down her vocal track for the Downtown Victoria Business Association’s upcoming in-theatre spot. Maureen has an amazing voice. We recommend you check her out on YouTube. Dale is the Clio Award-winning composer and producer who created the song for our spot.
It just occurred to us that web 2.0 is a lot like the eleventh tradition of Alcoholics Anonymous, a fraternity with a name a lot like our own. The tradition reads: “Our public relations policy is based on attraction rather than promotion..." Attraction, it turns out, is not just a better policy for your public relations these days, it’s really the only policy that works.
